
Overview
Level 2 Diploma African Caribbean Hairdressing
This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a hairdresser with different hair types.
Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, advise and consult with clients with African type hair, shampoo and treat African type hair, relax hair, change hair colour, cut hair using basic techniques, style and finish hair and set and dress hair.
This qualification will prepare you to progress to the next level of vocational learning at Level 2, specifically you will be
able to undertake:
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing (Combined Hair Types - Afro and European)
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Barbering
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's and Men's Hairdressing
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Barbering
- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in African Caribbean Hairdressing (QCF)

Practicals
Summative Observations are related to all units/topics covered. You will be supervised by technical staff and assessed on your occupational competence. The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in African Caribbean Hairdressing (QCF) is a qualification
that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in;

Exams
The external paper will test your knowledge of all unit criteria. A pass mark of 70% must be achieved.
Requirements
- 4 GCSEs at grade 3-9, and a grade 4 in either English or maths
- (Students with Grade 3 in Maths & English will undertake re-sits)
- Alternatives/ equivalent: BTEC Entry 3 /Level 1 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Hair and Beauty or Level 1 H&B and grade 3 in Maths and English
