
Overview
This course is designed for those people interested in entering a career in the art & design industry such as graphic design, 3D design & crafts, fine art, photography, textiles etc. This is an excellent introductory programme for those who want to learn the basics of art and design. This course not only combines art skills but the development of soft skills, such as confidence, management and organisation, to ensure that high standards are met so you can develop your skills into a specialisation you wish to follow.
Course Content
This course is an introduction to art and design, where you will learn the basic skills and formal art elements, and learn how to competently produce and communicate through visual art. You will be stretched and challenged to engage in peer and self-reflection throughout this course. In recent years the course has consisted of the following units:

Requirements
To enrol in the Level 1 Certificate in Art & Design course, you’ll need:

A range of GCSEs at Grades 2 and 3. Entry into the course will be heavily dependent on a successful interview.

It is a requirement that you must have studied or can show an interest (by producing a portfolio of work), in Art & Design before taking a Level 1 qualification.
