Parents & Carers

Welcome Parents & Carers!

We know that a young person’s success is a team effort, and your input makes all the difference. We’re committed to working in partnership with parents and guardians to support every student’s learning, wellbeing, and future goals.

We keep you informed and involved through our Parent ProPortal, where you can easily access updates on attendance, progress, and key dates. You’ll also be invited to Parent & Carer Evenings, where you can meet tutors, ask questions, and hear more about how your young person is getting on.

We understand that college life can come with challenges, so we offer a range of financial support, including bursaries, to help with travel, meals, and learning resources. Our team is here to guide you through what’s available and how to apply.

You also play a vital role in helping us support your young person’s wellbeing. Letting us know about absences, sharing any concerns, or simply staying in touch helps us create a safe, supportive environment where every student can thrive.

Together, we can help your young person make the most of their time at SHC, and feel confident about what comes next.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US

Please ensure your young person is ready to learn and engage in their studies each day. You can keep track of your young person's attendance, progress and achievement on ProPortal.

We set clear expectations and guidelines on behaviour for all members of our community. This includes staff (through the Staff Code of Conduct), students (through our Behaviour Policy), and parents and carers through our Parent Code of Conduct below. This code of conduct aims to help the college work together with parents and carers by setting guidelines on appropriate behaviour.
