Helping to shape the future...
We are always encouraging members of our local community to help inform our students' views of the world. Our students are the next generation so it's vitally important they have a well-rounded view of the world and what better teachers of life them those who have come before them.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Do you have a story to tell or a skill you can teach? Maybe you have a lifetime of experience in an area our students could benefit from? Are you an employer or rising star in your field?
Whatever your background, there is almost certainly something you can offer to the young minds of tomorrow.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
You can give a talk, a presentation, performance or provide a practical workshop. Whichever way you deem best to pass on your information, we will do our best to facilitate.
If you are an employer, our students are always looking for work experience.
THANK YOU!
Your efforts and time are greatly appreciated by both our staff and students. Once you join up for our community involvement group we will invite you to all of our future events. We will also enter you for our annual community activist award presented by our students.
“I delivered an employability workshop to teach the students work skills, it was very rewarding and I even learned a few things from them!”

Intergenerational Community Programme
At Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, we are proud to play an active role within the Greenwich community. Our Intergenerational Community Programme brings students and local organisations together to create meaningful connections, shared learning, and positive social impact.
The programme links our students with care homes, residential settings, community centres, and voluntary organisations across Greenwich. Small groups of fully vetted students, supported by staff, visit partner organisations to deliver engaging, purposeful activities that promote wellbeing, creativity, and companionship.
Activities are shaped around both student strengths and community needs, and may include:
-
Creative arts, photography and storytelling
-
Beauty and wellbeing sessions
-
Games, reminiscence activities and conversation
-
Music, singing and gentle movement
-
Reading sessions and one-to-one interaction
Each visit is carefully tailored to ensure it adds real value for residents, service users, and staff, while offering students meaningful real-world experience beyond the classroom.
Why Work With Us
Our Intergenerational Programme creates two-way benefits. Community partners gain enthusiastic support, fresh energy, and genuine connection for those they serve. Our students develop confidence, empathy, communication skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility; qualities that enhance both personal growth and future employability.
The programme is embedded across a range of curriculum areas, including Health & Social Care, Childcare, Public Services, Art & Design, Beauty Therapy, SEND, and Personal Development, making it a unique and flexible partnership opportunity.
Get Involved
We are always keen to hear from local care providers, community groups, and organisations interested in collaborating with Shooters Hill Sixth Form College.
