From Electrical Installation Student to Apprentice Engineer

At Shooters Hill Sixth Form College (SHC), we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our students as they take their next steps into industry.

Markas, who completed his Level 2 Electrical Installation course in 2024, is a fantastic example of how vocational learning can lead directly to career opportunities. Since finishing his studies, he has secured an apprenticeship as an Engineer with Drax360, a company specialising in fire safety and compliance solutions.

In his new role, Markas is already gaining valuable hands-on experience, working on live projects and further developing the technical skills he began building at SHC. Reflecting on his apprenticeship, he highlights one of its key benefits:

Getting paid to learn

Markas's journey demonstrates the strong foundation our courses provide, enabling students to progress confidently into apprenticeships, employment and further training opportunities.

Markas returned to the College - this time as an Apprentice Engineer with Drax360 - supporting the installation of a new fire alarm system. It was a proud full-circle moment, demonstrating how skills developed in the classroom can quickly translate into real-world impact.

Markas's success is a powerful reminder that vocational courses can open doors to rewarding careers, apprenticeships and exciting industry opportunities.
