Students Shine at International Women’s High Tea Event
Students and staff from Shooters Hill Sixth Form College played a key role in the success of the recent International Women’s High Tea event held at Roots4Life, welcoming more than 60 members of the local community for an afternoon of celebration, wellbeing and connection.
The vibrant event, held in recognition of International Women’s Day, created a warm and uplifting atmosphere from start to finish. Students from several subject areas worked together to ensure the event ran smoothly, transforming the space to offer a range of activities and services for visitors.
Hair and beauty students provided professional treatments throughout the event, with hair services running at the back of the venue and beauty treatments offered at the front. In just two hours, students saw more than 40 visitors, delivering a variety of treatments that were enthusiastically received by attendees.
At one point, the energy of the event was so high that students even offered head and neck massages outside, which proved extremely popular and added to the joyful spirit of the day.
Health and Social Care students also played an important role, managing the games table and tombola while sharing information leaflets about the services available. They engaged warmly with visitors over tea, helping people learn more about the treatments on offer and guiding them to different activities throughout the event.
The event was also attended by Roots4Life founder Sophie Amos, who spent time speaking with attendees and gathering feedback about their experiences. Visitors shared overwhelmingly positive responses, with many expressing how much they enjoyed the welcoming environment and the opportunity to relax and connect with others.
The collaboration between students, staff and the Roots4Life team created a truly community-focused event that captured the spirit of International Women’s Day. Everyone involved left feeling uplifted, and the event has provided a strong foundation for future partnerships and community initiatives.
Overall, the International Women’s High Tea was a fantastic success, highlighting the skills, professionalism and teamwork of Shooters Hill Sixth Form College students while making a meaningful contribution to the local community.
