Shooters Hill College hosts RLF Bridge writing workshops

Shooters Hill Sixth Form College recently welcomed writers Sarah Ardizzone and Marianne Kavanagh to deliver workshops as part of the Royal Literary Fund (RLF) Bridge programme, helping students strengthen their writing and communication skills.
Sarah Ardizzone is a literary translator from French whose work includes graphic novels, books for children and young adults, hip-hop lyrics and film scripts. With more than thirty years of experience delivering workshops, she is passionate about amplifying diverse voices and supporting emerging writers. Sarah has delivered RLF Bridge workshops at the British Library and in schools across London and the Midlands.
Marianne Kavanagh is a journalist and novelist who previously worked for national newspapers and magazines as a commissioning editor, production editor and freelance features writer. She has since published four novels and has a strong interest in education, previously serving as a Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London.
During the sessions, students explored techniques to improve clarity, structure and confidence in their writing. The workshops provided valuable insights from experienced professionals and highlighted the importance of strong communication skills for both academic study and future careers.
The college is proud to offer opportunities such as the RLF Bridge programme, giving students access to industry professionals and supporting them to develop essential skills for their next steps.
