Female Skills Plumbing Competition – Southern Regional Heat

On Tuesday 24th February 2026, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College was proudly represented at the Female Skills Plumbing Competition – Southern Regional Heat, hosted at Bath College, Somer Valley Campus, Radstock (BA3 3RW).
The competition brought together talented Level 2 Plumbing students from across the region, each demonstrating their technical knowledge, practical ability and professionalism under timed conditions. Events like this are designed to challenge learners to apply their skills in a high-pressure, real-world environment, mirroring the standards expected within the industry.
Participation in regional skills competitions plays a vital role in developing confidence, resilience and independence. Students gain valuable experience working to specification, managing time effectively and problem-solving, all essential qualities for a successful career in plumbing and the wider construction sector.
The Female Skills competitions also play an important part in championing women in trades where they have historically been under-represented. By providing a platform to showcase talent and raise aspirations, these events help to inspire more women to pursue careers in technical industries.
National initiatives such as the SPARKS Female Skills Competition, which celebrates female electrical students and apprentices across the UK, further highlight the growing momentum behind supporting women in skilled trades.
At Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, we are committed to widening participation in technical education and ensuring our students are equipped with the skills, confidence and ambition to thrive in their chosen careers.
We are incredibly proud of our students for representing the College with dedication and professionalism at this prestigious regional event.
