COURSE OVERVIEW
The Pathway to Independence course is designed to focus on the four areas of Preparing for adulthood. These include, employment skills, independent living skills, community inclusion and health.
Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement courses are developed to meet the needs of the young person by setting individualised targets that are based on the outcomes within an EHCP.
Within the course you will take part in practical activities that include:
- Cooking
- Out in the community
- Gardening
- Supported work experience
- You will also undertake practical everyday Maths and English
On our Pathway to Independence, you'll learn:
- Social and Communication Skills
- Independent Living Skills in our home environment 'The Flat'
- Community and Environment
- Skills for Work
- Numeracy, Literacy and ICT
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Would you like the chance to work in small groups with support to become more independent in a range of skills?
- Would you like to make choices about your own learning?
- Are you currently in a special school that caters for young people, who have severe and complex needs or ASD?
If you’ve answered yes to some of these questions, our Independence course could be the right course for you!
In most cases you will need to have a current Educational Health Care Plan to access this course.
