Overview
Food Service Management, Level 3 is designed for students who want to develop the advanced service, supervisory and leadership skills needed for a career in the hospitality industry. You will take greater responsibility for planning, organising and supervising live food and beverage service while building the professional standards expected within high-quality hospitality environments.
Through live services, practical projects and industry-focused activities, you will gain the confidence, specialist knowledge and supervisory experience needed for employment, higher apprenticeships or further study in hospitality and events management.

During this course, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to supervise hospitality operations and deliver excellent guest experiences. You will learn about:
- Supervising food and beverage service and leading teams effectively.
- A range of food service styles, including restaurant service, fine dining, functions and events.

- Barista skills, professional wine service and boutique spirits.
- Planning and supervising bar, restaurant and event operations.

Entry requirements
- Successful completion of a Level 2 Food & Beverage Service qualification or relevant industry experience.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 3-9 (or Level 2 Merit equivalent, such as a BTEC), including Grade 4 in English.
- A strong passion for customer service, leadership and hospitality excellence.
How you'll be assessed
Assessment takes place throughout the course through a combination of short-answer questions, extended projects and practical assessments during live food and beverage service.
There are no external examinations. You will be assessed through independent research, written projects, presentations, and demonstrations of your practical and supervisory skills.
There are no final exams, and your progress is measured throughout the year.

Successful completion of this course can lead directly to employment, higher-level apprenticeships, university study or self-employment within hospitality, events and related industries.
Students have progressed to opportunities with employers including British Airways, Delta Hotels by Marriott and The Wolseley Hospitality Group. Others have gone on to study Hospitality Management and Events Management at university or have established their own event and mixology businesses.
