Overview

Take the first step toward an exciting career in hospitality with our Event Management, Guest Experience & Mixology Level 2 course. This one-year programme is designed for students who want to develop professional hospitality skills, create memorable guest experiences and gain practical mixology experience.

You will learn in realistic industry environments, including our City View Restaurant, where you will develop food and beverage service skills, support events and functions, and build confidence working with real customers. The course provides an excellent foundation for progression to Level 3 study, apprenticeships or employment within the hospitality industry.

What you'll learn

Throughout the course, you will develop the practical skills, confidence and industry knowledge needed to succeed in hospitality and customer-facing roles.

  • Delivering excellent customer service and guest experiences
  • Developing professional restaurant and front-of-house service skills
  • Mixology and cocktail making, including presentation and responsible service
  • Barista skills and professional hot and cold beverage service
  • Supporting events, functions and special occasions
  • Developing communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding professional standards and expectations within hotels, restaurants, bars and events

You will regularly put your skills into practice through live service and industry-style experiences.

Entry requirements

  • 3 GCSEs at Grades 3-9
  • A Grade 3 in either English or Maths
  • A passion for customer service, cocktail mixology and event planning

How you’ll be assessed

Assessment is designed to reflect real hospitality industry practice. Most assessment takes place through practical activities and observations during live service, guest experience activities, restaurant service, mixology, barista skills and events.

You will also complete a small amount of internally assessed theory work, including written assignments and short-answer tasks that support your industry knowledge and understanding.

There are no final exams. Your progress is assessed throughout the year.

Successful completion of this course can lead to Level 3 Food Service Management, apprenticeships or employment within hospitality and guest experience industries, subject to meeting SHC attendance and progression requirements.
