Applied Science, AAQ Level 3 Programme
Course Information
This pathway comprises three AAQs in Applied Science, Medical Science and Human Biology.
Learners will explore the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and physics, and complete units on disease and health, biomedical science, medical physics, the brain, and science in society. They will also develop transferable skills in data analysis and scientific communication.
Students will have access to well-equipped science laboratories with full technical support. In addition, learners on this pathway will benefit from a dedicated programme of trips and visits, including opportunities to visit universities.
We expect most learners on this course to progress to university in subjects such as biomedical science, forensic science, nursing, midwifery, paramedical science, psychology, biochemistry, or environmental science.
Entry Requirements
- GCSE Science: Grade 44
- GCSE Maths: Grade 4
- GCSE English Language: Grade 4
- Two additional GCSEs: Grade 4
Learners who achieve a grade 3 in either Maths or English Language are encouraged to apply. If accepted, they will be offered the opportunity to resit their GCSE Maths or English alongside the AAQ pathway.
