Course Information

Overview

Level 2 Science is a one-year study programme designed for students who want to build their scientific knowledge and progress to higher-level science study.

The programme combines two Level 2 Science qualifications with GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language. You will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level and develop both your scientific understanding and practical skills.

What you'll learn

You will gain a strong grounding in the key scientific principles needed for further study. The course explores how science is applied in real-world contexts, including human health, the environment and space science. You will also develop practical laboratory skills and learn how to carry out investigations safely and effectively.

• Scientific Skills

The Scientific Skills unit brings together the practical techniques and scientific knowledge developed throughout the course.

Entry requirements

Ideally, you will have:

• Four GCSEs
• Grade 3/3 in Combined Science
• Grade 3 in Maths
• Grade 3 in English Language

How you'll be assessed

Assessment is through a combination of:

• Coursework (75%)
• External examinations (25%)

Where this course can take you

After successfully completing this course, you may progress to:

• Level 3 Science T Level
• Access to Higher Education (19+)
