Member of the Trustee

Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

“Inspiring Young People”

Whether you’re an outstanding Teacher or an innovative Support worker, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College’s inclusive, dynamic and creative ethos provides an imaginative workplace.  We are extremely proud of our diverse workforce and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Post:   Member of the Trustee

Hours: Minimal (annual AGM and review of monthly reports).

The Members of Shooters Hill Sixth Form College Academy Trust are seeking to appoint two additional Trustee members to join them.

Members play a limited but crucial role in safeguarding academy trust governance. Members need to be comfortable that the governance of the trust is effective, and that Academy Trustees are acting in accordance with the trust’s charitable object(s). Members can use their powers to step in if governance is failing. Academy trusts are founded by Members and run by Trustees. Members are not involved in the day-to-day business of the academy trust or of the Trust Board, so time commitment is low (attendance at annual AGM and reading of regular reports from the Academy).

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Resident of Royal Borough of Greenwich, particularly those with Post 16 school age children living in the vicinity of the College.
  • Understanding of what good governance looks like (or be willing to invest some time initially to learn this) - being a Trustee or previous Trustee of another academy or charity with previous governance experience and knowledge will be beneficial but not essential.
  • Be willing to take action if the need arises.

Closing date: Friday 8th July 2022, at 12pm midday

Interviews will take soon after the closing date.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on college premises, and in some cases, we will use a virtual recruitment process.

As part of our recruitment process, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College collects and processes personal data relating to job applicants.  We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use that data and to meet its data protection obligations.
