This qualification has been developed for young people who are undecided on which course to study, so are wishing to have their achievements recognised across a number of different course areas.
Boasting small class sizes, with an average of 13 students per class, this course is most suited for students who are looking to re-engage with mainstream education.
This qualification is linked to our main vocational courses, and is made up of the following areas:
- Health and Social Care
- Sport and Public Services
- Child Care
- Hair and Beauty
The type of additional units you will be covering could include:
- Appearance and behaviour in the workplace
- Career progression
- Vocational units
Students will also complete work-related activities and work experience in an area of interest, which is a compulsory part of the study programme.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is designed for students aged 16-18 who are working at Entry Level 3/Level 1.
The nature and structure of the qualification will also appeal to young people who may need to re-engage with learning and education, or those who have a general interest in vocational careers, but need to explore which path they wish to choose.
Placement onto this course is subject to a successful interview. No previous knowledge or qualifications are required for the vocational subjects, however a good level of understanding in English and maths is expected.
On successful completion of this course, students will have the opportunity to apply for a Level 1 or Level 2 course in their main area of interest.
Students may also have the opportunity to advance into a department outside of the options available for this course, provided that their behaviour and work ethic is appropriate.
(Progression onto a higher level of course will also be subject to English and maths results.)
